Upon installation, officers can utilize the Florida Smart ID LE Verifier on their smart devices to confirm the identity and/or driving rights of individuals using the Florida Smart ID. The verification process involves requesting individuals to select Law Enforcement Verification on their Florida Smart ID, followed by scanning the QR code displayed on their device. In a matter of seconds, the officer gains access to the person’s driver’s license information directly on the Florida Smart ID LE Verifier interface.
It's essential to note that while Florida Smart ID by Thales is an official credential authorized by the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, it does not serve as a replacement for the physical Florida driver’s license. As per Florida law, individuals must carry their physical driver’s license while operating a vehicle.
